vintage california pottery by metlox VINTAGE DINNER WARE Soup Bowl Set California Contempora Metlox Poppytrail 6 7/8" x 6 1/8" set of 4 1950s Modern Free-Form Design Metlox began in the 1920s as Prouty Line Products. The Metlox name is derived from metal and oxide - used in their glazes to create their rich, vibrant colors. The 3 coordinating abstract patterns with differing color schemes are: California Freeform, California Mobile and California Contempora. The bowls feature an asymmetrical shape and creamy glaze with scattered color flecks and mod center motif.
All 4 bowls are in VERY GOOD CONDITION with light to moderate wear and soiling; no chips, cracks or crazing although there are a few stray glaze marks; faint utensil marks; stilt marks on the back. Pattern was discontinued in the mid fifties. Metlox closed its doors back in 1989. |
